Long Description: Prolactin is a hormone that is essential to breast development and milk production in pregnant women. The hormone also affects fertility and libido in both sexes. High levels of prolactin may indicate a pituitary tumor, hypothyroidism, liver or kidney disease and can exist during cases of anorexia. Low levels of prolactin may indicate hypopituitarism.
