IGF-1 is a hormone that affects nearly every cell in the human body. It is also directly linked with Growth Hormone (GH). Low levels of IGF-1 may indicate a deficiency in GH or pituitary dysfunction. Low levels of IGF-1 may also indicate liver or kidney disease and can also be present during cases of anorexia. High levels of IGF-1 may indicate a pituitary tumor.
