Measures the body’s homocysteine levels.
This panel may be used for different reasons. It is commonly used to detect Vitamin B12 and folate deficiencies. Elevated levels of homocysteine may produce inaccurate readings of the B12 or Folate test, which is why this test would be run in conjunction. The test is also used as part of heart attack screening. It is commonly used in those who have a family history or who carry other risk factors.
High levels of homocysteine may indicate a B vitamin deficiency. It may also indicate that the individual is at a greater risk of heart attack or stroke.
Recommended with Homocysteine, Cardio
