LH is responsible in part for regulating the female menstrual cycle and is essential to male testosterone production. FSH is responsible for egg production in women and the stimulation of estradiol and is responsible for the production of sperm in men. Low levels of LH and/or FSH may indicate a fertility issue, pituitary disorders or a hormone imbalance.
