Measures the amount of Carotene in the body checking for deficiencies.
Carotene (Beta Carotene) is a precursor to Vitamin A and is a fat soluble nutrient. Excessive carotene consumption may lead to changes in skin pigment. It takes very large amounts, extremely excessive, to lead to any pigmentation changes. Issues related to excess will reverse once levels have returned to normal. Measuring carotene is a good way to determine Vitamin A levels. There are no severe toxicity concerns with carotene. However, excess may promote excess Vitamin A related issues, which can range from digestive to headaches among numerous others.
